Wintergeist

“Wintergeist” is a young man in a well-aged and seasoned (think fine wine!) body! Winter, in his past, was a very seasoned and competitive eventing and cross-country mount for several years. A few years back, the past owner put him out to pasture as they no longer had interest in him, and he was purchased a couple months ago by someone hoping he’d be ready to take a step down. After a few weeks of riding, she decided Winter was too athletic for what she was wanting, and after some time in training with me, Winter has made it clear he has several sound and healthy years left with how athletic, supple, and sound he is. He starts out each ride just as peppy as the four year olds in my barn and loves having work and a job more than not. Winter is kind and sweet on the ground, loves the grooming stall, and won’t turn down a nice bath on spa day! Winter is working many elements of first level in his short amount of training, and I know there’s easily room for second level. I don’t jump (please don’t ask me for current jump videos… I do have access to his old cross country videos though), but… I don’t see any physical reason or limitation for him not to get back into some jumping if that’s what you want to do with him! While he may be 18, and don’t let that number fool you, he is not ready to step down and be a total school horse- he does sometimes need a lunge after a day or two off, and he can toss in a small “looky” spook, but he has no bolt, buck, stop, or rear. We have also found that he has been much happier after some incredibly minimal maintenance, that in my opinion, is not of any significance. Winter is lifetime USEF and USDF registered, and is ready to find his person to fulfill his years with! Current owner is very motivated for a good, forever home!
